Once Upon A Time ....

Girl meets guy.

Love Blooms.

The question is popped.

Guy and Girl search far and wide for THE PERFECT wedding venue .....

The very shortened version of how a seed was planted - a wish for a unique wedding venue in the Catlins.   And how it was, a few years later, that Jade and Lyndon McNab spotted the for sale sign outside what was at the time, a very sad and completely derelict, Port Molyneux School.

Thinking it had amazing potential for a wedding and events venue, particularly with its stunning sea views, they talked about it all the way home to their farm and spent the next few days running numbers, sketching plans and dreaming of the possibilities.

With the support of their families, they took the plunge and bought the property complete with a second schoolhouse and 0.6ha of oceanside land.

THE RENOVATION

Then the hard work began.  The school had been empty and exposed to the elements, and it had broken windows, leaks and birds were living in it.

"We wanted to keep it as authentic as possible, just freshen it up," Mrs McNab said.

The two classrooms have been opened up as a reception room and an extension added, while the nearby headmaster’s house has been refurbished  for bridal party accommodation.
